When we print a sample check, the routing code and account number are printed in a different font than the rest of the check and there are formatting characters printed with the routing code and accout number. e.g. /003004/ @5300310000@ /1234567879/ The check prints in Troy E-13B while the routing number appears in courier. Does anyone know how to correct this?

The routing code and bank account number should be printed in the MICR font. If the MICR font is not found then it will substitute the Courier font.Sounds like the MICR font is not found. Is the DIMM chip in the printer? Remove it and try putting it in again. Make sure it is in the first slot. Run a printer test on the printer to see a list of the fonts installed. Let us know if this does not solve the problem.

Mike:If this is a new printer, you need to order a font cartridge or DIMM chip with the MICR font. Printers do not have the MICR font built in. You also need MICR toner so that the checks will be read correctly by the banks. Contact FNI Customer Service for ordering information. They will need the brand and model number of your printer. If you already have a font cartridge/chip, John's suggestions above should help. - David FNI Technical Support

The DIMM is installed. We purchased this configuration from Troy, it is a HP 1320 with the TROY E13B, TROY CMC7, TROY ECF, TROY LCF, TROY SCF, TROY Helv Rev, TROY MICRO, TROY OCR A, TROY OCR B, TROY Security, British Pound Symbols, Euro Symbols on the DIMM. We also installed the fonts on the workstation that hosts the printer on LPT1.

If you have tried John's suggestions and it still doesn't work, contact your supplier for assistance. They should be able to tell you how to print a test page to see if the MICR font is actually installed on the printer. Or check the printer documentation for instaructions how to print samples of all the installed fonts. Once your printer is able to print in MICR, Checkform Navigator will be able to also.- David FNI Technical Support

In working with the Troy Group we have also tried using TT fonts rather than the default, we experienced teh same results, the routing code and account code print in a different font.

We are able to print the MICR fonts in MS Word and MS WordPad without issue. The fonts also print on the test page.

It turns out the Troy chip requires an "escape code sequnce" that is not supported by CheckForm. The problem was solved by installing a MICR chip from FNI that is compatible with CheckForm.
