Barb:Sorry you are having problems. A few things to be aware off:
CheckForm 4.0 and later have a built-in MICR font in the software. There is no longer any need for hardware or a chip attached to your printer. But for some reason, the MICR font is sometimes not activated until you perform extra steps on each workstation. That is probably why the font prints as "A" and "C" instead of MICR on that one workstation. See the installation steps below to fix.
Error 5 usually indicates some problem with DLL or other files on the workstation. Reinstalling sometimes fixes it. However, if some other software was recently installed that uses older DLLs, it can require some work to clean up the problem. We can help you do that if necessary, but it might be better to wait until you upgrade to Navigator 9.0 and CheckForm 9.0. These new versions will probably fix the problem. Meanwhile try reinstalling CheckForm.
To reinstall CheckForm:
- Make sure no one is using CheckForm.
- Find out where your Navigator program is installed on the server.
- Reinstall CheckForm on the workstation that is having the problems. Select Workstation Install and point to the Navigator program folder during the installation.
- Open the font folder on the computer. It is at C:\Program Files\Font\.
- Close the font folder. Seems silly, but this step alone often fixes the MICR font.
- Reboot the computer. This step alone sometimes fixes the font also.
- Check to see if the MICR font is working. You can tell by looking on the CheckForm Print Preview screen (or by printing a check).
- Open CheckForm Settings to see if the Error 5 problem is fixed.
. These are abbreviated instructions. If you need help with any of the steps, let us know. These steps will fix the MICR font problem. They may fix the Error 5 problem also, but if they don't, let us know if you can wait for Navigator/CheckForm 9.0.- David
