I have not been able to access IDC through the internet. I can connect directly through a modem. I've checked the Host Name field and it seems to be set up properly. But when I try to connect I get an "ERROR 341: Could not connect to IDC". Is there something else I should be doing?

Let's try to break the problem down and isolate the exact cause.Since you can access thru dialup then Navigator Access is installed and working. Also the modem is working. Can it access the internet? Try using a browser to access the internet. If not then the connection to the ISP(Internet Service Provider) is the problem. If it can access the internet, then can it access the interactive web site? Try accessing www.ftinteractivedata.com. The interactive web site may be down. Next, check the setting in Navigator Access. In Navigator Access, select View |IDC Settings. In the Interactive Data Communication Parameters dialog box, verify the Connection Type: is "TCP/IP" (instead of modem). Select Advanced and verify the Host Name: is "idcrp.intdata.com:60001". Verify "Production" is selected and not Test. All the modem settings and phone number info does not apply to TCP/IP. If this workstation has been working before then try to recall what has changed such as installing other new software. First try restarting the computer to clear out any programs in memory and run Navigator Access. Next reinstall the Navigator Access and rerun it. Note: For a Windows NT workstation, the IDC communications program may need to be run from the local drive. So rerun install Navigator Access so it is on the local C: drive. To determine where the program is running from. Select Help | About Navigator Access. From the About dialog box, see under Exe: the path and file name such as c:\fn\naccess.exe.

REPLY The modem can access the internet and the interactive web site. The connection type is "TCP/IP" and the Host name is "idcrp.intdata.com:60001". The workstation has not been working before. We have never been able to access IDC through the internet. But I did try reloading Access, that did not help. I have not been able to determine where to "Verify 'Production' is selected and not Test." Anything else I can try? Thanks

On the Interactive Data Communications Parameters dialog box, just to the right of the "Advanced" button where the Host name appeared. There are 2 radio buttons. One is Test and the other is Production. What is the date and version of the program setparw.exe in the FN program folder? 6/30/1999, version 1.0? Is Navigator Access installed on the file server or on the local c: drive?

Sound like that is the correct setparw.exe file.Look in the file wdci.log in the fn program folder. It records the activity for the last session. What messages are logged for the last connection?

Yes, we will definately let you know what we hear from IDC customer service. In fact we asked them just to responsed directly to the forum on this exact topic. If you do want to contact IDC customer service directly, then please ask for Katheryn Hickey and tell her it is in regards to the Error 341 problem posted on the Navigator User Forums. For Interactive Data Support, visit their web site at: http://www.ftinteractivedata.com In dealing with multi-vendor situation, resolving issues is always a bigger problem. The error 341 is generated by the IDC communications program (WDCI32.exe). IDC will know better how to resolve this error. What is the date and version of the IDC communications program(WDCI32.exe)? To determine the version, in windows explorer, right click on the exe file. From the popup menu, select Properties and select the version tab. We appreciate your patience on resolving this issue.
