When running both Navigator Access and StockWeb, the prices need to be updated before running the other. Both StockWeb and Navigator Access put the prices in the APR2.PRN file. So the file will contain the prices for whichever one was run last.The APR2.prn file showed prices for the 5th of Jan from StockWeb.
A,54.625,"1/5/2001","AGILENT TECH ",N/A
Rerun Navigator Access for 12/31/00. Look in the Apr2.prn file. Verify the prices are dated for 12/31/00. Update the securities before running Stockweb.
Other steps to verify Navigator Access is running correctly.
1) Look in the file SYM2.PRN, it contains the symbols. These are shown in the window before selecting Retrieve. If the symbol is not listed here then it needs to be added.
2) Look in the file SYMIDC.PRN, this contains the same symbols but in the format needed for IDC.
3) Look in the file WDCI.LOG, it contains the info from the last session. You can see the sending of symbol and the receiving of a price. If the symbol is not listed here but is in the symbol file(sym2.prn) then look in the WDCI.INI file in the c:\windows folder. It contains the name of the input and output files. It should read:
[files]
inputfile=symidc.prn
outputfile=idc.prn
If this is incorrect, the change it or reinstall Navigator Access and it will correct it.
4) Look in the IDC.PRN file, this is the symbols and prices are they were downloaded from IDC.
5) Look in the APR2.PRN file, this is where the prices are passed to Financial Navigator for updating securities.
Note: These files can viewed from within Navigator Access from the View menu. The intermediate files are only listed in "Test Mode". Select Help | About Navigator Access and press "t" to set to Test Mode.
Also in Test Mode, you can run each of the steps one at a time.
1. Enter Valuation Date
2. Convert to IDC symbols
3. Retrieve IDC prices
4. Convert IDC price file
I know this was more info than your original question. But this will help you understand how Access works. Also how to isolate a problem and fix it.
Thanks for posting your question on the forum.
