I can’t get PriceLink to work. When select Download a “Datafeed 32” screen appears as usual. But after the lines
Attempting to connect to idcrp...
and
Authorized users only...
nothing happens. Worse, I can’t even close the “Datafeed 32” screen. Help!

Thanks for the question. The steps below should help. These instructions are for Windows XP Pro, other operating systems should be similar.

To close the Datafeed screen:

  1. Hold down Ctrl and Alt, then hit Del. This opens the Windows Secrurity screen.
  2. Select Task Manager. The Windows Task Manager screen appears.
  3. Select the Applications tab.
  4. Select DATAFEED 32 (TCP/IP).
  5. Select End Task. A warning message appears that terminating a program this way is not recommended.
  6. Select OK to ignore the message. We don’t have any other choice. A wdci.log Notepad screen may appear. If it does, close it.

If you are an AOL user, an AOL program may be interfering with PriceLink. You can close that program and then run PriceLink, but you should reboot your computer before using AOL again.

To use PriceLink with AOL:

  1. Close the Datafeed screen if it is open. See the steps above.
  2. Close PriceLink if it is open. It is not necessary to close Navigator.
  3. Open Windows Task Manager. See steps 1 & 2 above.
  4. Select the Processes tab.
  5. Select AOLDial.exe from the Image Name list.
  6. Select End Process. A Task Manager Warning appears saying that terminating a process this way can cause undesired results. We don’t have much choice.
  7. Select Yes to close the warning screen.
  8. Run PriceLink and download your prices normally.
  9. Shut down your computer before using AOL again. When your computer reboots, AOLDial.exe will be reinstalled and AOL should run normally.
  10. Repeat this process each time you use PriceLink.
