Margaret:Thanks for the addtional info and log file.
Try turning off any wireless devices on your computer, like WiFi printers or network connections. Apparently Interactive Data doesn’t work well with wireless.
Norton Anti-Virus is not a firewall. However, you may have other Norton products installed that are firewalls. But, since PriceLink worked before when Norton was installed, Norton may not be the problem.
Ask you IT person if there are any hardware or software firewalls. Usually there is a hardware firewall between your Internet connection and the server and the rest of the office. Ask IT to turn that firewall off temporarily. I am guessing that the fact you made it to “Red Hat…” indicates that port 60001 is open and the firewall is not the problem. But, it would still be good to check.
You might try installing PriceLink on the other computer. Use “Workstation Install” and point to the Navigator program folder F:\ on the next screen. See if PriceLink works on that computer.
How long does it take between the time the “Red Hat…” line appears and the “Closing connection…” line? If it is more than a few seconds, there may be a problem with a slow connection. You can increase the time allowed by following the steps below.
To increase the time out:
- Open idcddial.dlg (in the FN program folder F:\) using Notepad.
- Search for “dotcpip:” That is the start of the TCP/IP section. Everything before that is for dialup.
- Find UNTIL 150 under LOOP 3.
- Change to UNTIL 15000.
- Save and close idcddial.dlg
- Try PriceLink again.
