When updating current stock pricing on Stock Pro, stocks sold seem to be in files. Symbols have been eliminated, but accounts may not be eliminated inasmuch as transactions exist in the current year. This is primarily a nuisance, since eventually the program continues if you click it on.
How can this irritation be eliminated.

Thank you!

How did you "eliminate" the symbols? StockWeb does not update prices on sold securities. Please provide more information on the problem with the steps you took and where the problem occurs. Where do you "click on it" to make the program continue?

When you update a portfolio with retrieved prices, the system stops on security positions with symbols that are not in the symbol file or have not had a price retrieved for them. This allows you to manually enter the new price for symbols our service does not retrieve, or select Next to continue.

To check the symbol file, access StockWeb and view your list of symbols. If the symbol list is not accurate, you can rebuild your symbol file (if you have many symbols), edit your symbol file, or manually add missing symbols.

To rebuild the symbol file, see the forum post: How to clean up symbol files quickly.

To edit the symbol file:

  1. Select Investments | Edit Symbol File
  2. Add, delete, or edit any symbols.
  3. Select File | Save when complete.

The symbols added by this method need to be in the Symbol/# text box of the Asset and Liability screen in order for StockWeb to update that position.

To manually add a symbol:

  1. Select Investments | Security Info & Other Investment changes
  2. Locate the security with the symbol you want to add from the drop down menu.
  3. Type in the symbol in the Symbol/#: text box.
  4. Select OK
  5. Select Yes to add the new symbol.
  6. Repeat these steps for all symbols you want to add to your file.

By keeping the symbol file current, the system will not stop on securities that have symbols that have retrieved pricing data.

If this does not resolve your problem, please reply to this post.
