I have installed the Impressions with a CD rom and when I try to access the program, I get an error message telling me that I do not have the appropriate license to run the application. I talked to tech support for quite some time, and faxed them the contents of the installation files, and they could not assist me in getting the program to run. Has anyone had this problem? It is very frustrating. I paid for the program and now it will not run and FN tech has no answers for me.

Sounds like the version is a demo. The demo for impression can only run with the sample data.1) Try running Impressions with the sample data. 2) Look at the title bar and see if it says Navigator Impressions Demo. 3) Reinstall Impressions and be sure to put it in the same folder as Financial Navigator in installed in. Also verify during the install that it is not a Demo that it being installed.

John, thanks for the reply. I believe you are the one who tried looking at this before with me. I do not have a demo disk and I have installed this many times and always in the FN file that the program is in. You walked through it with me. I guess I should get a refund of the cost of the program since it is not working. I would prefer to get it running, but you sent me a new CD rom and that did not work any differently.Any ideas? Debbie,What is the date and time of the Impress.exe file? Also what is the exact words of the message you are getting? With this info we can determine the exact problem and then we will get you a version that works.

When I originally purchased the software I remember the same thing happening and tech had to help me get it running. That was about 1-2 years ago. Since that time, my hard drive crashed and I had a new hard drive installed and had to re-install all of my programs. Recently when I tried to re-install the Impressions, the error was there again. I am running Windows 95. The error appears when I first try to get into the program. I never get into the program at all. I hope this helps. Unfortunately, I did not keep the notes from the original loading of the software when tech was able to get it running for me. Debbie

The message "You do not have an appropriate license to use this functionality (Error 429)" indicates a windows library file(dll, vbx, etc) is missing or corrupt. With Impressions, it probably is the 'threed.vbx' file. Try copying the 'threed.vbx' file in the windows\system folder to another name such as 'threed.vby'. Then delete the threed.vbx file. Now try to run Impressions. If you get the error 429 then the problem is not with threed.vbx. If you get an error message about missing threed.vbx them you are on the right track. Now reinstall Impressions. This will insure you are getting the correct version of Threed.vbx and not a copy from another program. Also there could be some other windows library files that threed.vbx needs that are not on this computer. Try installing it on another machine.

John, I followed the instructions and copied the threed.vbx to a new threed.vby and deleted the threed.vbx. When I tried to run Impressions, I still got the Error 429 message.Debbie

Without the THREED.vbx file and the same errors occurs, then the problem must not be with that file. Try the same procedure with the 'Vb40016.dll' file. This is the only other file used by Impress 1.0 that contains the message. Also after the vb40016.dll is deleted, the error message should be different. Now reinstall Impressions 1.0. Look at the impress.log file to see the files copied. This should copy the vb40016.dll file that it may not have copied on earlier installs since they was a new version of vb40016.dll already installed that had the problem.

Without VB40016.dll, the Impression program would have trouble even starting. I suspect that there are multiple copies of vb40016.dll and/or threed.vbx. In windows explorer, find all copies of these files via Tool |Find | Files or Folder. In "Named" enter "threed.vbx" and in "Look in" specify "C:\" to search the entire hard drive. There may be a copy of threed.vbx in the C:\windows folder. If so then copy it to another name for backup purposes and delete it. Do the same for VB40016.dll. With the most current version in the C:\windows\system folder then Impression should work correctly.
