I have reported this before: it still continues. There are 31 accounts listed in the Chart of Accounts named by meaningless symbols, plus 179 numbered accounts with no name or symbol at all. All those involved seem to be Asset and Liability accounts, no Income accounts. These symbol-named accounts will not permit name change or deletion in the usual way, since when I try to do this I get the message, "account not found" -- As I prepare to close out the year 2003 for my tax accountant I am at a total loss for reliable financial information, in spite of my faithfully posting all transactions and repeatedly asking you for help. I now do not intend to use Financial Navigator in 2004 unless you can straighten out the mess that has existed since I first bought this "improvement"(!) as an upgrade.

Thanks for this post. I understand your frustration trying to prepare for end-of-year. Your earlier post and our replies Account placed in wrong category contains many good suggestions for resolving this problem. A few other things to consider:- Backup your FN data before making any changes.
- Perform a Software Update so that you have the latest FN updates.
- Post any responses as replies to this topic, instead of starting an new topic.
- Is your computer having any other problems? Are any other programs or data acting up?
- Using Test Mode gives you greater control when making changes.
- Although you can’t type the strange characters in the scrambled account names, you can copy the account names so you can delete them:
- Backup your FN data.
- Display Chart of Accounts.
- Select a scrambled account name.
- Select the Account Name in the Account Properties side of the screen.
- Copy the name by selecting Edit | Copy.
- Close Chart of Accounts.
- Select Accounts | Change or Delete Account Name.
- Paste the scrambled account name in the Account box.
- Select OK.
- Select Delete.
