Good suggestion. One work around is to backup a copy of the data files in a "public" area on the server for all who need it to access. These data files could have a different password.
The "working" files that you use would be in a different area.
This is a work around but it works fine. It allows for you to work on data until everything is done such as month end or after reconciling bank statments, etc. Then "publish" the files to the public area.
But back to your original request.
You want to allow reports but not allow transaction entry or print checks. How about chart of accounts or other account screens?
The idea we have is to control access by each menu choice for different set of users. The user would have a password to allow access to start FN.
Passwords would still exist on each set of data files.
As for the Annual Users Conference details see http://www.finnav.com/services/training/training.htm
