The Master Chart of Accounts was greatly expanded especially in the Marketable Investment group in FN version 7.0. The new Chart of Accounts will apply to:
1) new data files created with 7.0 (or higher), or
2) existing data files that were updated to the new chart of accounts.
Installing a new version of FN does not affect existing data files. To update to the new chart of accounts:
Select Utilities | System Configuration | Update to New Chart of Accounts. This will add the new categories and prompt to change existing category names back to the original names. As a safeguard always backup the data files before this process.
Once this process is done, this set of data files will not be able to run with earlier version of FN with the expanded chart of accounts.
