I am trying to add some new accounts for a new client and when I hit the Master icon witin COA I get a message that says "Invalid Type in Loading Chart of Accounts 0" and then my system locks up. Any suggestions. This only happens on one entity.

It sounds like the Chart of Accounts index for that entity is corrupted. Back up the data files and then run Utilities | Test & Correct | All of the Above.

Renee, I did what you suggested and everything was okay when tested. The message still comes up when I try to go to the Master Accounts.

It is likely that your Chart of Accounts index needs to be rebuilt. To find out if that's true, print the Master Chart of Accounts report.

If this shows problems (as I think it will), then rebuild your Chart of Accounts files as follows:

  1. From the menu select Help | About.
  2. Type the letter t
  3. System responds "Set to Test Mode". Hit Enter to select OK.
  4. Close Help.
  5. Select Utilities | Test & Correct Files | Rebuild Chart of Accounts.

Thanks, Renee. That did the trick.
