I have deleted a bond purchase made in error. When I look for detail of the account the system says no transactions exist. Which is what I wanted. Then I went to Accounts to delete the position that was still showing in the chart of accounts. I couldn't because now it said there were transactions existing. I couldn't delete from the chart of accounts either. Help! I want to delete the bond so that it doesn't show up on investment report with a zero. I want it off the system completely. What am I forgetting? Thanks, have a great weekend. I will deal with this on Monday! Pam

There are two ways to do it.
- Run the report Transactions by Account for the account you want to delete. Make sure that you select Month Range January through December. When you hit "Print", the system will tell you that the account may now be deleted. This procedure is in place to help prevent mistakenly deleting an account.
- Or you can run Accounts | Change or Delete Account Names. Select Account to delete. Select Delete. It will search to see if any transactions exist and then delete the account or prompt to reassign the transactions to another account.

If there are really no transactions (as verified by the Transactions by Account report), it may be because a Multiple Distribution was not completely deleted in the system. The solution is simply to rename the account to any other account. If the account you want to delete is an asset account, rename it to the Transfer Clearing account. By using Transfer Clearing, it will be easy to spot any transactions if you accidently renamed an account that really did have transactions. - David FNI Technical Support Case #38-10948
