Let's make sure that we're talking about the same things. Looking at the Master Chart of Accounts, ASSETS (this is a "Class")
-CURRENT ASSETS (this is a "Group")
--Checking Accounts (this is a "Category")
---CHECKING/JOINT (this is an "Account")
To make it easy to distingish, categories appear in Capitals and Lower Case letters while accounts always appear in CAPITAL LETTERS.
Accounts can be moved but classes, groups, and categories cannot. These are the structure of the chart of accounts and can't be moved. An analogy would be that the groups and categories represent the walls of the house and the accounts are like the furniture. You can move the furniture from room to room but you can't move the walls themselves.

Fortunately, there is a "User Defined Category" at the top of the Long-Term Investments Group, right before the Real Estate category. If I understand your question correctly, you should select this category and re-name it as you wish. Then add or move your accounts in that category and they will appear where you want them to.
