Hello Timona, thanks for posting your question.You can move accounts around in your Chart of Accounts as long as they stay in the same Class. In the Chart of Accounts, you can simply select an account and drag it to a new category. Alternately, you can move an account by the following:
1. Move to the class, group, and category where you want to insert the new account.
2. Select the category folder or account under which you want to insert the existing account.
3. Select Chart | Add Account. The Add Account screen displays.
4. Type the name of the account you want to move. Select OK. The account is inserted beneath the category or account you selected.
Could you elaborate on the statement “when I enter transactions, the correct account is not always assigned”. Do you select the proper account name during transaction entry but the transactions do not post to that account? Have you determined which account the transactions are posted to instead? How many of your accounts does this happen with?
