How do I run a report that shows only accounts with /284 qualifier but not /284A, /284B, etc? I tried various wildcards and exclude but can't get it to work.

Qualifiers and wild cards work best when each position in the qualifier has a character. Because the fourth position empty in /284, you won't be able to report on only /284 accounts.

You might add an "X" or a period to fill the fourth position: /284X or /284.

This might be a good time to review all your qualifiers. Ideally, use these guidelines for qualifiers:

  • Same number of characters in each qualifier.
  • Use a placeholder like X or 0 if a position is not used for a particular account.
  • Define each position in the qualifier
  • Define the meaning of the characters used in each position.
  • Use the same rules for all accounts and all entities.
  • Post the list of rules for easy reference.

Following these guidelines should give you consistent results when you use qualifiers and wild cards to filter your reports.
