Good Morning, I'm trying to set up and use BankLink for the first time. Unfortunately, I have access to none of the banks on the list. However, I called one bank, Northern Trust, and they said they use Quicken, which I believe should be the .qfx type file. Anyway, following the instructions in the manual, I am running into an error massage: "The Bank Account Number: (XXXX) was not found in OFX file: (file path) Verify the Bank Account Number and the file name are correct." I have verified in Asset and Liability Info that the account numbers match. Sometimes, I also get an error message (these are not mis-spellings, this is exactly how the message reads): "Indefined QIF tag:F with value rom:,09/17/2005,To:,10/17/2005 Continue to receive messages?" Any ideas? Thank you.

Hello,Thanks for being so descriptive in your post. Let’s verify the bank account numbers in BankLink. From the “Select BankLink File” window, go to the menu item Tools | BankLink Transaction Options… | List Bank Account Numbers… If the account number in BankLink does not match to the bank statement, go to the “Edit Bank Account Numbers” button and make the changes. I will pass the misspellings forward to our programmers and have them make those corrections. The reason for the error is due to the fact you are using a QFX file suppose to an OFX file. The QFX file contains one tag that is not recorded in the library of tags for the Open Financial Exchange community. The tag provides no meaningful data to the user, it is simply a way for the Quicken Software to recognize a file. Thanks for the post, Matthew

Ok. So I verified the account numbers to be correct. Perhaps the problem lies with this: when I hit "download," the File Download" window appears and in it, the following appears:Name: HistoryTransactionReport.csv Type: Microsoft Excel Worksheet From: web-xp1-nta.ntrs.com Then, after I hit "Save," in the "Save As" window, when trying to select the file type, I am only given two options: (1) Miscrosoft Office Excel Comma Separated Values... or (2) All Files. So I named my file and put .qfx after it, hoping it would save as the type of file FN could read and use. I had called Northern Trust yesterday and they said that their site works with Quicken, which is the .qfx or .qif type, correct? But it still is not working. Thanks for your help.

Hello,The file type you are downloading is defiantly the problem. The file types read by BrokerLink are OFX, QFX, QIF, and TRN. If the file type is CSV, it will not work. Check with your brokerage house, and see if they offer those file types. If they do, ask them how to download it. Thanks, Matthew
