Version 8.0.3

We have installed the latest update two times in hopes that our problem would be resolved. However, the account still pops up twice when entering information in transaction entry. What do you suggest?

Thanks.

I am confused by your statement

I just entered several transactions with no problem. Does this happen all the time? Please provide some more information about the specific transactions:
  • Multiple distribution or simple transaction with only one account
  • Specify what kind of automatic entry exists for the payee this happens to.

Also, please try to explain exactly what you mean by "pop up twice." Describe in detail the keystrokes you are using and what happens.

Sorry to make you go through all this but I need to understand your situation before I can answer the question.

The item Janet is referencing is listed in the release notes for the version 8.03 update. The item is "Fix Automatic Entries for Account list popup twice (Nov 10)"

The item "Fix Automatic Entries for Account list popup twice (Nov 10)" pertains to the Automatic Entries screen (Transactions | Automatic Entries).
This change does not have any effect on Transaction Entry.

We are not able to reproduce any problem in the Transaction Entry with the account list popping up twice.
Please describe the steps to create the problem.
Does it happen with all transactions or just a few?
Is it with a single account or multiple distribution?
Is the account entered or does it come from an automatic entry?

Run Test & Correct on the Account Index file. If the accounts are out of alphabetical order then it may be having a problem finding the account that is being entered.

Also verify the version (Help | About FN)

Thanks to everyone for helping. We've now discovered that the problem is only on my computer and not on two others in our office. So, apparently we have an internal problem and not one involving FN.

We documented the steps to make the problem happen on Janet's computer yesterday. I also verified that she has the correct vsflex7l.ocx file (from 8.03 update) on her machine. As Janet mentioned before, this only happens on her machine. Are there pertinent registry entries or other system files which may be incorrect? Her computer runs NT4 workstation. In the office we have a mix of Win98, NT4, 2000 desktops but hers is the only computer to have this problem. The problem occurs in every FN entity. Any advice is appreciated.

1. Start FN
2. Click on Enter (transactions)
3. Click in Payee/Payor field
4. Type Tom
5. Press Tab and a dialog box comes up.
6. Click Memo Payee in the dialog box. After doing so the foxu and cursor moves to the account field.
7. Click the account drop-down (downarrow)
8. Click an account name once to select it
9. Click OK in the account drop-down. The account drop-down disappears and the proper account is listed in the account field.
10. 2 seconds later the account drop-down reappears on its own.
11. Click okay on the account drop-down's second appearance and everything proceeds normally.

There is some difference between the other machines and this computer.

Here are a few things to look at:

1) Verify the same service paks are installed on this Win NT4 machine as the others.

2) Try it will same set of data on both machines. Just to prove it is not a data related issue.

3) Verify that the account pop up window is not over the drop down button. Move the window so the drop down button is not cover. (Note if you click on the account name and hold the mouse down it would also click on the drop down to pop up the list again.)

4) Try the same process but use different key strokes or mouse clicks such as just use the keyboard to select the account in the list and select ok(Alt+K). This will show if the problem is with "double clicking".

To answer your question, No there are not registry entries. There is an FNWIN.ini file in the windows folder. It holds settings for the workstation. Most of them are for windows size and position, column widths, etc. There is no setting about double clicking, etc.
