It sounds like you want the amount to appear every time you write a check -- rather than having to fill in the amount when you enter it in Transaction Activity. Try this:
- Go to Transaction Activity and select Tools | Options.
- Check Confirm Amount For New Payee
- Now every time you add a new payee, the amount of that first transaction will be saved and will appear every subsequent time you use that payee.
What about payees that already exist?
- From the main menu, select Transactions | Automatic Entries.
- Select a payee.
- In the Action Code column, select one of the following action codes (which I will explain further below):
- Constant amount (104)
- Confirm amount & save (105)
- Confirm amount (106)
- In the Amount column, enter the amount you wish to be saved.
- Now this payee will appear with this amount when you use it in Transaction Activity.
- NOTE: This will have no effect whatsoever on previously entered transactions -- only future ones!
Explanation of those Action Codes:
Constant Amount (104)
Whatever amount you put in the Amount column on the Automatic Entry screen will appear every time you use this payee to enter a transaction. You won't have an opportunity to change it until the transaction is completely entered.
Confirm Amount & Save (105)
Confirm the amount of a transaction. You can only use this action code in the first line of a multiple distribution. In addition, the last saved amount of the transaction appears as the default amount the next time that you use the same transaction. A distribution is saved as follows:
- The first line remains unchanged.
- Each additional line of a distribution is saved.
- All memos are saved.
- Accounts and action codes in the original automatic entry not used are removed.
Confirm amount {106)
Display a specified constant amount. Financial Navigator always displays this amount, waiting for your confirmation, when you use the automatic transaction.

Is this not possible to press a "save " button anymore? or is there a quick button to save the transaction. Thanks
Yes it is -- the "save" button is just in a different place. In Transaction Activity, select Tools | Save Auto Entry. In 8.0, this will work just like the "Save" button in earlier versions.
