In one of my entities only, when I enter Sales as payee to sell stock and then the account number, it asks do you want to sell an investment. So far, so good. BUT, when I am in the multiple distribution window verifying what I've sold (maybe it's a partial sale) I see on the line where I expect a Capital Gains account to automatically be there another stock account is on that line???!!! The entry will show the correct stock being sold, an amount to remove from Unrealized, but why does it pop a stock account in there for the capital gains calculation???!!!
If I don't remember this flaw every time I'm doing entries for this entity and change that account to the Capital Gains, my Cost Basis Balance is screwed up.
I've tried going into the Automatic Entry screen for the Sales payee, but all it shows is "Multiple Distributions" and then "end entry" on the first line. I've tried Nulling the entries but that does nothing.

HELP!!

You might want to check and see what accounts are set up automatically for your gains/losses.

To check this, go into the affected entity, and go to transaction activity as if you were going to post an entry. Then:

Select Tools | Transaction Activity Option.

Then check which account is selected for Short-term capital gains and Long term capital gains options.

These accounts need to be selected to automatically be posted on a sale. If the wrong account is highlighted, just select the account you do want to show for that type of gain/loss (short or long). If the correct account is not an option, you need to go the chart of accounts and add the appropriate account in the correct capital gains category. Then go back and it should be an option for you to select.

If this is not your problem, please let me know.
