I am trying to enter a stock sale transaction and after I enter the account it asks me if this is a sold investment. I answer yes and am taken to the deposit field. As soon as this happens the account disappears. When I enter the deposit amount I get the message "account cannot be blank". It will not take the account. HELP!!!!!!!!!I downloaded the latest updates throught 8.0.4 from the web. I am using Windows 2000 and Office XP. Thanks

First, test and correct your files. Select Utilities | Test & Correct Files | All of the Above. Then try your sale again. Be sure and verify that the asset is showing the correct cost basis, tax basis, share quantity, and format before you try and sell it. If the account "disappears" again, is the phrase "***Multiple Distribution" now in the account box? If so, can you double click on the account box and get the sale box to come up? If so, at that point can you input data?

Since upgrading to FN 8.0, I have the same problem with disappearing account when I am buying or selling an asset. I hit the tab key to get to account, put in the purchase or sale account, it asks if I am buying or selling an investment, I say yes. The multiple distribution screen is not pulled up when I tab and put in the amount - it says that the account cannot be blank and I am forced to re-enter the account name and once again answer the question about buying and selling. This is very annoying and slows down data entry.

Did you run Test and CorrectUtility? What version of 8.0 are you using? To check your Version see Forum post FN Version If it is not 8.0.6, run a software update. Select Help | Software Update from the main menu bar to run Software Update. Post a reply here if this does not solve your problem.

This problem can occur if your Transaction Activity screen is not wide enough to fit all of the columns on the screen without having to scroll to the right. If your Transaction Activity screen is not wide enough, then the account field can become blank after the "Acquire Investment?" or "Sold Investment?" prompts. The solution is to make the Transaction Activity screen wider so that the scroll bar no longer appears at the bottom of the screen. You can also make the columns on the screen narrower so that they all fit on the Transaction Activity screen so the scroll bar does not appear at the bottom. You can re-size your Transaction Activity screen by placing your mouse cursor on the corner of the screen until your cursor changes to a double-sided arrow, then click and drag the mouse to increase the size of the screen. -------------------------------------------- George Financial Navigator Int’l
