I have a problem with getting into the transaction activity screen. I select the proper checking account, month, etc. Then when I tab, enter, or hit apply, when the cursor goes to the activity screen it highlights the check number box like it should. However, when I try to go to the payee box, the payee box opens in middle of the other transactions on the screen. It's strange looking; it's larger than the normal size box for the payee. Instead of going to the next available payee box for entry, the payee box just pops up 2 to 5 (it varies) payees above the one it should be.

What is going on?

This is probably a problem with a file called ss32x25.ocx. Verify that your version of the file is 2.5.0.40 or later. Here's how to do that:

  1. Click on Start | Find | Files or Folders.
    • In the "Named" box, type ss32x25.ocx.
    • Make sure "include subfolders" is checked.
    • Make sure "look in" is set to either your local hard disk or the network drive (depending upon where the FN program resides.)

  2. Make note of the folder or folders where the file is found.
    • Select the first one listed and right click on it.
    • Select Properties from the pop-up window.
    • Select the Version tab.
    • Make note of the version number.

  3. If you have only one version of ss32x25.ocx, verify that the version number is 2.5.0.40 or greater.
  4. If you have two versions of ss32x25.ocx, the older one is probably causing the problem.
    • Backup the older version by changing its name to ss32x25.bak.
    • Then copy the newer version so that the same version appears in both places.

  5. Reboot your computer.
  6. Restart FN and go back to Transaction Entry. This should solve the problem you described. If you're still having the same problem, come back to this topic, hit "post reply" and tell us what's happening.
