There are 3 things to consider in optimizing the display of transaction entry in FN 8.0:
- Display settings
- Adjusting column widths
- Hiding unnecessary columns
Display Settings
For best results, you must set your monitor to the proper screen resolution. The importance of this cannot be over emphasized! This topic is on the forum at http://www.finnav.com/ubb/Forum71/HTML/000003.html . It also is discussed in detail in the Upgrade Booklet, pages 23-25.
Column Widths
As indicated in your post, you already know how to change column widths in the Transaction Activity screen, which is covered in detail in the Upgrade Booklet, page 30.
Tip: When adjusting columns, make them as small as possible. There is no real need to have the entire column header show, just the data. For example, the "Chk #" and "Status" fields can almost always be narrower than the header and still show the data.
Hiding Unnecessary Columns
As described in the Upgrade Booklet pages 31-32, it is possible to set transaction entry so that certain columns are not displayed. Select View | Memos to turn off the display of memos. Select View | Running Balance to turn off the display of the Running Balance. These columns can be easily hidden and redisplayed as needed.
