In printing the 12 month Balance Sheet, I'm struggling to make use of the space on the page; i.e. make the font bigger but not overflow to 2 pages. This is done "automatically" by the "FIT TO PAGE" options for the 12 month Income Statement, and is printed in a very "eye friendly" font, but I can NOT get the 12 month Balance Sheet to do the same. I also tried making the columns narrower for the Balance Sheet, but could not get that to work, either.

Please help.

If you are having trouble printing all of your report’s columns onto one page with the “Fit to Page” option, you may manually adjust the report’s layout and settings.

After displaying a report, you can change the style, size, and alignment of the text. From the report screen, select Format | Cells or click the Cells button. The formatting changes will apply to those cells that have been highlighted.

You can also change the width of the columns displayed on your report. Select the column you wish to change and Select Format | Column. You can also resize the columns by dragging the widths of the column header.

If there is still space available on your page that isn’t utilized, you may wish to adjust the report’s margins. From the report screen, select Format | Report Layout and click on the Margins tab.

Use the Print Preview option to see the results of you changes before printing your report.

You can also export your report to Excel to perform additional formatting if you like. From the report screen, select File | Output to File to save a comma delimited .csv type file that can be imported by Excel.

You didn't explain why the format (font, spacing, columns, etc.) using the "FIT TO PAGE options works fine on the 12 month Income Statement, but does NOT work on the 12 month balance sheet. It if works for one report, why do I have to make changes for the other report??????

The “Fit to Page” option uses the same software logic for all reports. The “Fit to Page” option tries to fit all of your information to a single page, and alters font size and column width as needed. The contents of your reports dictate these settings.

Look at the contents of the two reports you’ve mentioned. While they both have 13 columns, the 12 Month Balance sheet typically has greater amounts than a 12 Month Income Statement. Amounts on the 12 Month Balance Sheet that are even one character greater than amounts on the 12 Month Income Statement can really add up over 13 columns. For example, totals on the 12 Month Balance sheet could easily be one character more than the totals on the 12 Month Income Statement. That’s 13 more characters on the 12 Month Balance Sheet than on the 12 Month Income Statement. That would be equivalent to two or more extra columns of data. Therefore, the “Fit to Page” option has to significantly re-scale the 12 Month Balance Sheet compared to the 12 Month Income Statement.

I hope this is helpful. The methods described in the previous post will help in formatting your 12 Month Balance Sheet to your liking.
