When I enter a deposit, I can press the enter key after entering the amount and FN automatically goes the the next line, ready for the next entry. But when I enter a charge, pressing enter gets FN to accept the amount, but FN stays on the same line. I have to use the arrow keys to get to the next line. This started when I installed FN 8.2 upgrade. It happened on one computer but not another. (They are freestanding, not networked.) Other programs like Excel work fine. - David on behalf of Margaret

A slight refinement - if using multiple distribution, such as purchasing a new security, the key does not malfunction. It only happens when entering a single amount as a charge/debit in transaction entry.

Margaret: Thanks for your question. Please help us narrow down the problem:- What is different from the 2 computers?
- Does the situation occur the using the same payee for the same data on the 2 different computers?
- Is this on entering new transaction or changing an existing transactions?
- Is the Action Enter Transactions or Change/Review?
- What is the automatic entry for the payee?

We were able to duplicate the problem by turning off "View Running Balance." If you do not see a Balance column on the right side of your Transaction Activity screen, try turning it on and that should allow the Enter key to work properly:On the Transaction Activity screen, select View | Running Balance. You want a check mark next to Running Balance.

To answer your questions: 1) Our computers are "peer to peer" networked. The hardware is identical, purchased and installed at the same time.I did not test the second computer, but my assistant, who does most of the data entry, does not report any problems. 2) Unknown. We will test on Monday. 3) This occurs only on entering a new transaction. However, it does not occur when entering a new multiple distribution transaction. 4) The action is Enter Transaction. 5) I'm not sure what you are asking in this question. Whether it is a new or existing payee, if I enter the amount, it will not proceed without using arrow keys to go back and then down. I turned on the "running balance". That solved the problem. However, I would really like to eliminate the running balance in favor of more room for the memo section.

No problem- Leave Running Balance turned on.
- Increase the size of the Transaction Activity screen (optional).
- Adjust the width of the Memo and other fields to your liking. The running balance column does not need to be visible--it can be hidden off to the right of the screen.

Follow up to previous post1. My assistant had no problem with data entry. However, she always uses the running balance. 2. I entered a new set of data files. In transaction entry, an error message, "element 35601" not found in change/transactions". I selected "retry" and the screen updated to running balances... 3. We cannot test using same payee at the same time. At different times, each of us used the same payee without problems. At the time each of us tested the payee, both of us have running balances on our screen.
