You may need to tell Navigator what printer to use:
  1. Start printing invoices.
  2. Select Select Printer on the preview screen.
  3. Select Print Setup.
  4. Change the printer if necessary.
  5. Select OK twice to return to the preview screen.
  6. Print the invoices.
This process is sometimes necessary, especially if you also print checks.

If you use a different printer for checks, you will need to follow similar steps each time you switch from printing invoices to checks and back again.

The printer choice is stored on your desktop computer. Other users on other computers have their own printer settings. Any printer changes you make will not affect other users.

The printer choice affects different things:

  • All accounts in the current entity-year are affected.
  • Only the entity-year you are working on is affected. Other entities (or other years for the same entity) are not affected; they have their own printer settings.
Note: this is true for Navigator 8.2. Navigator 9.0 stores the settings differently and the printer settings affect all years for a particular entity. Each entity still has separate settings.
  • All users are affected. Anyone else printing checks or invoices for that entity-year will get the settings you set.
Note: If you use CheckForm, the situation is different. The printer you choose with Print Setup is still separate for each user. However, when you change the printer to CheckForm Navigator, that changes it for all users (in the one entity-year).
The moral of the story is if you change printers, let other users know because in some cases they may have to change it back to their preferred printer.
