Thanks for the question. A performance report shows activity that affects your net worth or total assets. Selling a stock allows you to realize gains and that activity is shown on the report.
The money you take out of a broker cash account to buy a stock doesn’t affect your net worth, since the asset is simply transferred from one account (broker cash) to another (the cost basis of the stock). Likewise, when you sell a stock, the portion of the proceeds that represent the cost basis of the stock is transferred from the stock to your broker cash account. There is no change in the value of you assets so nothing appears on the ROI Security Performance Detail report.
