When I try to open an entity in Navigator 9.0, it says it is in use. But no one else has 9.0 open. We even tried rebooting the workstations. Why does it say in use when it isn't and how do I unlock it?
If a workstation crashes, Navigator locks up, or something like that happens that prevents a graceful exit from Navigator, it is possible that Navigator thinks a someone is still using the database even though they aren't.

To correct this, you can "unlock" the entity in Test Mode. Do this with caution; you don't want to kick a user out that really is using the entity.

To clear an "In use" entity

  1. Make sure no one is actually using the entity.
  2. Open Navigator to any other entity
  3. Select Help | About Navigator.
  4. Type "t" on your keyboard. A message appears "Now in test mode."
  5. Select OK twice to return to the Navigator desktop.
  6. Select File | Open
  7. Select the entity that says in use but isn't. That entity is now highlighted in blue.
  8. Right click on the entity.
  9. Select Clear in use....
  10. Select OK.
